What is Twitter?
Twitter is what the social media networks call a micro-blog, where individuals can register and post anytime small status updates, and cannot exceed 140 characters. Anyone can read your status, unless you protect it, but those who are approved by you, others can follow you, and you can follow them if you wish. You would get updates of people’s status, which works like an RSS feed.
You can use Twitter as a business and marketing tool. Many companies, regardless of their interactive website, have Twitter and register as their company’s name. It gives their customers something to follow and offer a quick update that is current. CNN, Ashton Kutcher, Comso, Marketing Magazine et al all have Twitter account! Twitter has become one of the fastest growing social network of our time, with over four million registered users.
As an adjuster or a broker, you can still use Twitter. You can get your clients to follow you and you can even give little hints in your status updates…even when you will be away from the office! You can also advertise on Twitter too…search “Insurance” in Twitter and you will see list of insurance companies registered on Twitter advertising or giving hints on how to save money. I heard on the radio this decorator posts Twitter status updates with 140 characters worth of tips on how to decorate your home.
